The Samsung Galaxy i9000 is also known as Samsung Galaxy S or even as Samsung Galaxy i9008 – the latter code is being used for the Chinese market. This phone has been released in the summer of 2010 and you don't only buy a single model like it happens with most phones, but there is a whole family of about 20 products available out there. However, some of them haven't been yet released, or are just rumored. Many of the products have been released for a specific area (like for China, Brazil) or fro a certain service provider: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and so on. You should be careful which model you buy, because not all of them have the same features.

This international version is compatible with the GSM and with the HSDPA networks, each for a specific protocol: GSM for the 2G and HSDPA for the 3G protocol. As you well know -or suspect – this is a smartphone, and runs the Android 2.1 operating system. You can update the OS to the more recent versions, for more flexibility. There is an ARM Cortex-A8 processor, as well as 512 MB of system memory to help you perform more tasks at the same time.

What you might find curious, is the fact that you can choose this mobile phone with 8 GB of internal storage room, or with 16 GB of storage, similar to the iPhone.
And if you saw many other smartphones with no radio and you wanted one which has it, then you can just choose this Samsung Galaxy S, because you have FM RDS radio already installed. You also have GPS support, so that you don't get lost while searching for an unfamiliar address. This international version of the Galaxy S has 2 cameras, while many of the models designed for various carriers only have the main one.
