Nokia 5140i Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On August - 20 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Who said that only the currently available mobile phone can be reviewed? This Nokia 5140i was released in 2005, and today can't really be be seen as being used around like back in its days. This is because many want to keep up with the technology, and prefer buying smartphones or tablets with phone functions and features. If you too are one of these people, then you better stop reading now, other wise, you can continue the reading.

Even if some of the phones at that time could communicate even in the 3G environment, this wasn't the case for the Nokia 5140i. The only communication channel for this mobile phone was the GSM, accompanied by the Class 6 EDGE and by Class 10 GPRS. Back in those times, having an infrared port was something very common, but today this feature (or custom) died.

One of the things you could do with this phone was to play games, even if this was no games console. One could choose one of the games on the phone, or could download any other game. The trick was not to exceed the internal storage memory: 3.5 MB, and there was no card slot installed.

The image above shows a rear camera. There was nothing special about this camera because it was a plain VGA one, with almost no function. It was such a basic camera that it could only take pictures and record some short videos. There isn't much to be said about it, so you better check the link provided higher for more information.

Not sure if you had this phone, but it seems it is labeled as a mid range price one, but if people liked it, it is because for most part it acted like a phone and not like a computer.

Nokia 6303 Classic Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On August - 18 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

The Nokia 6303 classic is a quite a new phone, because Nokia released it in the spring of 2009. If you like the candy bar like phones and which have basic phone functions, you can consider buying this phone. But before rushing to the first store, stick around for some information about it, so you make sure this is indeed something that you're searching for.

Nokia 6303 Classic Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

Mentioning that this is a phone with basic functions, also means that the only network used is the GSM one, under the 2G protocol. other networks used for communication are the GPRS and the EDGE networks, with Class 32 for each. The screen has a pretty standard size: 2.2 inches and the technology used for it is TFT with 16 million color depth.

Most people today rely on the microSD for data storage when it comes to their cell phones, because few of them have 32 GB of internal storage.  Well, to warn you, this phone doesn't really have internal storage room: only 17 MB. you should rely on the (maximum) 4 GB microSD card of the phone – you receive one of 1GB in the package when you buy the phone.

You'll probably be more satisfied with the 3.15 MP camera, because it has dual LED flash and autofocus, if your hand is not quite steady. It should not even be mentioned, but there is no secondary camera installed, it would be pointless.

In order to help you not get bored, Nokia installed the technology needed for the FM stereo radio, and it also has the RDS function. Among the more interesting “entertainment” function, the games and the media player are listed. There are 4 games installed, but you can get others if you don't like those ones. The media center is mostly dedicated to music: MP3, WMA, WAV and eACC+ music files.

Nokia 5610 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On August - 18 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

There are 2 versions of the Nokia 5610 (XpressMusic) mobile phone – US version and international version – but some say there is also a Chinese version. the various versions are recognized mainly by the network used for communication. And, now, let's see which networks are being used for communication on this phone: GSM (in 2G, with these frequencies 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz) and UMTS (for the 3G protocol).

Nokia 5610 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

This is a slide phone, as you can see, but it is not a smartphone, so it doesn't have many functions of one. The screen on this phone might seem a little bigger than on other basic phones made by Nokia, but the truth is that the size if it's not the same, it's very similar: 2.2 inches. The technology used is TFT, and the color depth is the maximum possible – 16 million.

Because this is a phone in the XpressMusic line, you can use more types of ringing tones, and the videos are included. And of course, you need to store them, but you can't really count on the phone's memory, so Nokia has designed this phone to be compatible with a microSD of maximum 8 GB.

Nokia 5610 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

If you really have to know what type of media files you can play on this phone, here they are: MP3 and MP4, AAC, eAAc and WMA. The best part is that you can use almost all of them as ringing tones.

Because, maybe, staying in touch with your family and friends is more important to you, there is a secondary, VGA camera installed on this phone, so you can make video phone calls, whenever the coverage allows you. The main camera is a 3.15 MP one, with few functions and features.

Nokia 2680 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On August - 11 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

The Nokia 2680 is a slide mobile phone, and it even has this term in the official and complete name. However, for a phone released in 2008, you're looking at a pretty basic one. Let's take for instance the phone book: it can only hold up to 1000 contacts, while others hold up to 2000, and we're not thinking about any smartphone.

If you feel that this review is a bit negative, you can check out the reviews coming from various users, and which usually are more positive.

OK, so you probably realized that with the possibility of only storing 1000 contacts there isn't much internal storage space either: only a mere 12 MB. However, it's not like you can even store many file types either: pictures and some music.

The camera is only a VGA one, with a really low resolution – 640 x 480 pixels – and with no recording functions. The music has to be in MP3 format and it can be downloaded or used as ring tones as well.

But because the number of songs you can download is limited, you have the option to listen to as much music as you wish on the radio. The radio is a FM one and has broadcast recording function, but probably you won't be using it much.

Nokia 2680 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

You can find this phone in 4 different colors which is pretty usual for Nokia: everybody noticed by now that the phones with basic functions are available in more colors compared to the smartphones, or with the ones with more features.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the network used for communication. The Nokia 2680 is a GSM device and it has 2 versions: an international one and one to be used across the United States. Other networks used for communication are the EDGE one, Class 6, and the GPRS one, Class 10.

Nokia 6086 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On July - 12 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

If you like a clam shell like phone, then you would have liked the 2006' Nokia 6086. This is an international cell phone, meaning it works on almost all of the GSM frequencies, North American or otherwise. And even if in that year one could find phones which would work in the 3G protocol, this one wasn't one of them. Even if this phone was not a smartphone, it had a lot of features, which were appreciated in a pretty basic cell phone, read on.

Nokia 6086 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

What this cell phone did have, and was quite popular for the period, it was a secondary, external display. The main one was a CSTN with 256K color depth, while the secondary one was a much smaller, monochromatic one.The second display didn't have themes nor wallpapers, like the main one.

And while you probably really liked the second screen, just like many did, maybe you liked the WiFi compatibility even more, next to the EDGE, GPRS and BlueTooth protocols.  But what can you do with so many connections if you can't save any data in the phone's memory? But one could have used either the little 5MB of internal memory, or buy a microSD.

Nokia 6086 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

These specs might not be enough to convince you that this was a nice phone to have, but maybe these people will.
There were of course, still some specs which need (or deserve) to be mentioned. One of them is the media player, which seemed to be able to play a total of 6 different type of files, music and video combined. Other entertainment was given by the installed games, from the FM or visual radio installed, and of course, by the internet navigation possibilities.

And if you wanted to know if there is any camera installed, there was, and this page does not only have info on it, but also details about other unmentioned functions.

Nokia 6680 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On July - 9 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Thinking that in the year 2005 there was no 3G (video) communication on the mobile phone? Then you should reconsider, because the Nokia 6680 of that year, had a secondary camera, which allowed the video calling, and it was only done to another phone with the same feature, just like today. This page has a little bit more info on why this phone was good back in its release year.

Nokia 6680 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

And because the camera and the 3g communications have been mentioned, these are their specs. The network used for the 3G video calling is the UMTS on the 2100 mHz frequency. The main camera has 1.3 MP, a resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels and it comes equipped with LED flash. The secondary camera is a pretty plain VGA one, but it did its job quite nicely.

This Nokia 6680 phone is quite small, its length being almost 11 cm, but probably the image below shows it a little bit bigger.  The screen is not quite squared, but it is quite big for this mobile phone: 2.1 inch, or 35 x 41 mm, and the technology used for it is TFT with 265 thousand color depth.

Nokia 6680 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

Other details, worth mentioning are the size of the phone book: which allowed the owner have unlimited entries of contacts with unlimited fields, and for that time this feature was brand new, while today is common. But you, as an owner you could also use the external memory on a RS-DV-MMC card, and you'd receive 64 MB when you got the phone.

This was a smartphone because it ran under the Symbian 8.0 series 60 operating system, and probably this was the reason for the unlimited phone book entries. There were 2 games installed, but one could install others if they so wanted to.

Nokia 5530 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On July - 7 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

For a smartphone released by Nokia, the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic with a 2.9 inch TFT resistive touchscreen, this mobile phone looks quite amazing. It is indeed reminding many of us of the Apple's iPhone, but almost all touchscreens do. This device is a release of the 2009, and one of the most interesting and wanted features f the screen is the handwriting recognition feature. Another very liked feature is the WiFi connectivity, which on this phone was enabled, which for many others it doesn't exist.

As networks, it is only compatible with the 2G GSM one, as well as GPRS and EDGE, but sadly there is no 3G. This is not very troublesome because the secondary camera used for the video calling is also missing, so there isn't much to be sad about. And because we mentioned the camera, the one installed has 3.15 MP, autofocus and LED flash.

The images taken and little videos recorded can be easily stored on the maximum of 16GB of the microSD card, and you get 4GB for free. The internal storage space is of 70 MB.

As a smartphone, it works under the Symbian 9.4 operating system. Unlike many other smartphones, the radio on this one hasn't been removed, it is FM, stereo and with RDS feature.

Other very nice features are the picture editor, the music player for many music files, the video player thanks to which this device has it name of XpressMusic. The general look for it is kind of sportish because it comes in a combination of 2 colors, for 5 possible combination's. This Page will tell you almost everything else you want to know about this mobile phone. It is almost sure you will not regret looking or wanting this phone for yourself.

Images Of Nokia E71 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On July - 7 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

The Nokia e71 is a smartphone with an almost 2.4 inch screen, which has 16 million colors in depth and the resolution of this screen is of 320 x 240 pixels. The display might seem small, especially compared to other cell phones in the same line, like the Nokia e61i (2.9 inches), but it is bigger than most other Nokia cell phones. However, if you get used to it, it will seem just a fine display.

If you want to see more images of this phone, including the rest of the colors in which it has been made, click here. If you want to know more about the quality of the pictures taken with it, as well as what else it can do regarding this function, you better read further.

There are 2 cameras installed on this device and naturally the secondary camera is being used for video calling and its quality is poorer that the main's. The main camera has 3.15 MP as strength, and also auto focus and LED flash for a better lighting of the picture taken. With a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels the captures will look quite good on the smallish screen of the phone. If you transfer them to a computer, you will easily be able to edit them, to that any error will be removed.

The video type and function of the main camera is QVGA at 15 fps, which should give you pretty nice videos. Sadly there is no image editor installed on this phone, let alone a video editor. The only things you can edit are the supported office documents.

You better check out this page if feel like some of the details about the images captured with this smartphone are missing or you better share your opinions on this feature in the specific section, at the bottom pf the page.

Nokia N900 Review

Alina Gica Dorobantu On July - 6 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

You want a phone with a touch screen, with a full QWERTY keyboard, and also that can slide? You got it! Just go and get the 2009 release from Nokia, the Nokia n900.

Even if the screen is a little bit smaller than on most Samsung Galaxy S phones, only 3.5 inches, the resolution is the same: 480 by 800 pixels. However the colors might let you down a bit, because their depth is only 65 thousand.

But you will be impressed by the 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, geo-tagging function, auto focus, as well by the fact that there is a second camera installed as well. The images and videos taken will fit just nice on the 32GB internal memory or on the 16 GB microSD card which you will need to buy as well.

The operating system of this smartphone is Maemo 5, the phone has FM radio as well as FM transmitter (pretty useful when the emergency strikes). If you want to play some games you have 5 of them available, but if you don't like them, you can  download some more.

The apps installed are some really nice ones too. Take for instance the music player which is compatible with 4 music files types. The video player on the other hand can play 6 types of files, including Real Player, XviD, DivX and avi formats. And as is this wasn't enough you should also check out the TV-out feature or the Adobe Flash Player 9.4. And we all know that the Adobe Flash Player needs to be installed on the Android devices, while the Apple ones don't even have it.

More details on the phone you can read only by clicking here, and then you can also check out what people think of it, at the bottom of the page.

Nokia E61i Reviews

Alina Gica Dorobantu On July - 6 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

For a phone that has been released 4 years ago (in 2007) like the Nokia e61i still finding this phone in the store is not a surprise, check it out on this page. Most of the phones that have a QWERTY keyboard and also want to keep the phone in a in a portrait position, like this one does, will eventually end up looking like the BlackBerry phones. However, the sharp angles give this phone a manly look, while the BlackBerry keeps a rounded, more feminine look.

Nokia E61i Reviews (source: dotcells.com)

This Nokia e61i is meant to be used under the 2G and the 3G protocols, and GSM, UMTS 2100 mHz, EDGE and GPRS networks, as well as to use an WiFi internet connection. The display is a TFT type, with a color depth of 16 million and its size is 2.8 inches. The images look more sharp on this Nokia than on a BlackBerry of the same year, because the BlackBerry phones have only 256,000 color depth.

With the only 2MP camera installed you can take pictures up to 1600 x 1200 pixels in size and also to record some little videos. You can store them all up on the 2GB microSD card compatible with the phone, while you only have 60MB of internal storage available.

If you were wondering ,this is indeed a smartphone, its operating system is the Symbian 9.1 series 60 version 3.0 and it has a dual ARM processor. There are no radio or GPS installed on it, but it can connect to a BlackBerry, can view some office documents, and play MP3, AAC and MP4 multimedia files.

This page will provide for you, if you're interested with more details on what other features are installed and which are not, and don't forget to read the user opinions at the bottom of the page.
